The Magic have begun to prepare the property by beginning demolition of the parking garage just north of the team’s arena, said Joel Glass, spokesman for the team. There’s no timeline yet for when construction will start.
“As you know, this project represents a $200 million-plus investment by the Magic and its partners that will create jobs and provide dining, hotel and entertainment options, and continue the revitalization of downtown Orlando and the Parramore neighborhood,” he said, noting the complex is still in the design phase.
Last December, Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins said team would begin work on the facility sometime this summer.
The proposed 7.82-acre complex, to be built on west Church Street, is designed to have a 250-room hotel with convention/meeting space, plus 64,000 square feet of retail space, 100,000 square feet of office space, 250 residential units and a parking garage. Those plans could change as the project gets closer to development.
The team has been quite busy over the past couple of weeks during the NBA offseason acquiring and trading players. The team’s planned new entertainment complex would provide the area with new economic impact via the tourists and locals it could draw. Along with the addition to our soccer team this development will put Orlando in the spotlight for bigger and better venues in the future. Imagine the addition of a possible NFL team or maybe getting the opportunity to host an olympic event, that would be amazing! Orlando is a growing community with great aspirations and with good leadership will be the place to live. If you need the top Real Estate agents in the area contact us.
