“Surgical services are now open at Orlando VA Medical Center, officials announced on Wednesday.
The services, which include ambulatory surgery and endoscopy, were transferred from Lake Baldwin, and take the facility one step closer to being fully open.
“Today’s opening represents another milestone in our journey to fully activate this medical center for our Veterans,” said Timothy Liezert, director of the medical center. “… we intend to keep moving forward in expanding services to meet the needs of Central Florida Veterans.”
The new services make available at Lake Nona ambulatory surgeries such as orthopedics, pain management, podiatry, plastic surgery, urology and vascular surgery. There are also eight endoscopy units for gastroenterology and pulmonary medicine procedures.
The 134-bed hospital tower and Emergency Department are not yet open, but officials said they’re set to open in early 2016.”
